The Personal Trainer course at the Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST) offers a professional training program designed to prepare participants to work as highly competent personal trainers. Eligibility to Enroll
You can enroll in the course if you meet one of the following qualifications:
- Hold a fitness trainer certificate.
- Graduate from a university, college, or institute in physical education or sports sciences.
- Have documented practical experience in fitness training of at least five years.
- Be a professional athlete (in clubs or national teams) in a documented sport.
- Must hold a first aid certificate and a sports nutrition certificate.

Course Duration
The total program duration is 284 training hours, to be completed within 4 months from the registration date.
Online Learning (194 hours)
- Study the theoretical material from the scientific curriculum and course book.
- Watch training videos and lectures on the Academy’s platform.
- Complete module quizzes and the final theoretical exam on the SAST platform.
Practical Training (80 hours)
- Perform practical training in a fitness gym.
Final Practical Exam (10 hours)
- Preparation and performance of the final practical exam.
- Mandatory Quizzes
Each theoretical module has a mandatory quiz.

Exams and Passing Criteria
The course assessments are divided into theoretical and practical exams, with the following structure:
1. Theoretical Exams
All theoretical exams at SAST are conducted online via the platform, with random questions from a question bank based on the course curriculum. Results are automatically graded and shown immediately after completion.
Module Quizzes:
- Students must pass all mandatory module quizzes before attempting the final exam.
- Quizzes have up to 10 multiple-choice questions.
- Exam time: 1 minute per question.
- Passing score: 80%.
- Quizzes can be retaken unlimited times.
- Final theoretical exam cannot be attempted until all quizzes are successfully completed.
Final Theoretical Exam:
- Students can take the final exam after passing all module quizzes.
- Minimum passing score: 60%.
- The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions with four options each.
- Duration: 100 minutes.
- Students are allowed two attempts to pass the final exam. Additional attempts can be purchased for $50 each.
- The final practical exam cannot be attempted until the final theoretical exam is passed.
2. Practical Training Assessment
- Complete 80 hours of practical training in a fitness gym as a personal trainer under direct supervision.
- Training is documented using two forms: Training Approval Form and Performance Evaluation Form, available in the Exams section on the platform.
- Forms must be signed and stamped by the gym where the training took place.
- The final practical exam cannot be attempted until the practical training is successfully completed.
3. Final Practical Course Examination
Exam Procedures
- Case Selection: The practical exam includes a set of training scenarios; one case will be randomly selected as the subject of the exam.
- Case Description: The description of the selected training case will be displayed at the start of the exam via the Academy’s platform.
- Video Recording: The student is required to record a video of a complete training session with a "model" acting as the trainee. All instructions and guidance must be clear and audible.
- Content & Duration: The video must reflect the specific training program for the chosen case, and the exercises must match the submitted training plan. The video duration must be between 30 and 40 minutes.
- Submission: The session must be conducted inside a fitness gym. The video should then be uploaded to the educational platform for evaluation by a specialized committee.
Execution and Evaluation Requirements
- Program Preparation: The student must prepare a training program for a single session consisting of at least 10 exercises, explaining the performance technique and executing 10 repetitions with a moderate load for each exercise.
- Grading: Evaluation is based on a Pass/Fail system. Developmental feedback may be attached in the event of a passing grade.
- Retake Policy: In the event of a failure, the student has the right to retake the exam for a fee of $50 USD per attempt.
- Prerequisites: Passing all previous theoretical and practical course requirements is a mandatory condition for entering the final practical exam.
Final Score Calculation
- Practical exam: 50%
- Final theoretical exam: 25%
- Practical training: 25%
Students must pass all three components to receive the certificate.
Graduation Certificate
Upon completion of the course and passing all exams, students receive a completion certificate sent directly to their email and stored in their profile on the Academy platform. The certificate is officially recognized and accredited by:
- Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST)
- Global Council of Sport Science (GCSS)
- International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE)
- Register of Exercise Professionals Tunisia (REPS Tunisia) – for Tunisian students
- International Confederation of Registers of Exercise Professionals (ICREPs) – for Tunisian students
- Ministère de la Formation professionnelle et de l’Emploi (MFPE) – for Tunisian students
