The Personal Trainer Course offered by the Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST) provides a professional training program designed to qualify participants to work as highly competent personal trainers.
The course covers essential scientific and practical knowledge, including training program design, practical exercises, motor coordination, sports nutrition, and physical fitness.
The program is designed to equip trainees with the expertise and skills required to deliver effective training sessions and achieve measurable results for clients.

Eligibility for Registration
You may register for the course if you meet one of the following requirements:
- Holder of a Fitness Instructor certificate
- Graduate of a university, college, or institute specializing in physical education or sports sciences
- Documented practical experience of at least five years in the field of fitness training
- Professional-level athlete (professional clubs or national teams) in a specific sport, with official documentation
- The applicant must hold a First Aid Certificate and a Sports Nutrition Certificate

First: Live Online Lectures (via Zoom)

- Final theoretical exam via the Swedish Academy platform
Fourth: Field Practical Application
80 training hours
- Actual practical application inside a fitness gym
- Delivering group fitness sessions under certified supervision
Fifth: Final Practical Examination
10 training hours
- Preparation for the exam
- Performance of the final practical exam
- Final evaluation of professional performance

Exams and Passing Requirements
Course assessments are divided into theoretical and practical evaluations, with the following structure:
First: Theoretical Exams
All theoretical exams at the Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST) are conducted online via the academy platform, using randomized questions from a question bank based on the official course curriculum.
Exams are automatically corrected, and results are displayed immediately after completion.
Periodic Quizzes (Quiz)
Students must successfully complete mandatory quizzes before proceeding to the final theoretical exam:
- One mandatory quiz for each chapter of the theoretical content
- Maximum of 10 multiple-choice questions
- Exam duration: 1 minute per question
- Passing score: 80%
- Unlimited retake attempts allowed
- The final theoretical exam cannot be taken unless all quizzes are successfully completed
Final Theoretical Exam
- Students may take the final exam only after passing all mandatory quizzes
- Required passing score: 60%
- The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, with four options per question
- Exam duration: 100 minutes
- Each student is allowed a maximum of two attempts
- Students who fail both attempts may request an additional attempt for a fee of USD 50 per attempt
- The final practical exam cannot be taken unless the final theoretical exam is successfully completed
Second: Practical Internship Assessment
- 80 hours of practical training in a fitness facility as a personal trainer, under direct supervision of gym management
- The internship is documented using two forms: Training approval form. Performance evaluation form
- Both forms must be uploaded to the academy platform after completion and must be signed and stamped by the fitness facility
- The student may not proceed to the final practical exam unless the internship is successfully completed
Third: Final Practical Exam
- The final practical exam includes a variety of training case studies One case is randomly selected as the trainee’s examination scenario
- The case description is displayed at the start of the exam in the “Exams” section of the academy platform
- The exam date is scheduled during the final two days of the course in coordination with the course instructor and academic supervisor
- The exam is conducted practically in a fitness gym and lasts 45 minutes Exam Implementation Details
Training Program Preparation:
The trainee is required to design a comprehensive training program suitable for the assigned case, including exercises, execution methods, and logical sequencing in a professional and structured manner
Practical Execution:
During the exam, the trainee acts as the supervising personal trainer, guiding and monitoring a colleague acting as the trainee (model)
Emphasis is placed on explaining correct exercise technique, adjusting appropriate loads and repetitions, and ensuring accuracy and movement safety in accordance with professional standards
- Evaluation and Passing Criteria: The final result is either “Pass” (with possible performance notes) or “Fail” in the case of major execution errors
- Re-examination: A failed student may retake the exam for a fee of USD 50 per additional attempt
- Eligibility for the Final Practical Exam: The final practical exam may only be taken after successfully completing all previous theoretical and practical course requirements
Final Grade Calculation
- Final practical exam: 50%
- Final theoretical exam: 25%
- Practical internship: 25%
The student cannot pass or obtain the certificate unless all three components are successfully completed successfully.
Graduation Certificate
After completing the program and passing all examinations successfully, the student receives a course completion certificate, which is sent directly to their email and stored in their personal profile on the academy platform.

- Global Council of Sport Science (GCSS)
- International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE)
